Base your answer to questions 30 and 31 on the diagram below and cm your knowledge of physics, The diagram represents two small, charged, identical metal spheres. A and B that are separated by a distance of 2.0 meters. What is the magnitude of the electrostatic B? (1) 7.2 times 10^-3 N (2) 3.6 times 10^-3 N If the two spheres were touched together and then separated, the charge on sphere A would be (1) -3.0 times 10^-7 C (2) -6.0 times 10^-7 C (3) -1.3 times 10^-6 C (4) -2.6 times 10 C

Explanation / Answer

Here, you have to understand the concept of Charge.

Negative Charge is on A as it has excess electrons.

Positive Charge on B shows deficiency of electrons.

As, both spheres are touched ,

- 1.0*10-6 C charge flows from A to B to neutralise +1.0*10-6 C.

Charge remaining on A = -( 1.6 - 1.0)*10-6 C = - 0.6*10-6 C

So, correct option is (2) -6.0 *10-7 C
