Question
Your goal for this lab is to determine the acceleration of a basketball in the air as it is moving up, at the highest point, and coming down. Please state as specifically as you can your predictions of the magnitude and direction of the acceleration at these points, and any changes in the acceleration at each point. This week you may find it useful to use the calculated values tab to get the average value and uncertainty for a range of data in Lab Assistant. Please read the appropriate section in the lab manual and describe how you will set up this functionality.Explanation / Answer
(a) When ball is in the air moving up,
Acceleration = -g = -9.81 m/s^
direction = downwords
(b) At Highest point (v = 0),
Acceleration = g = 9.81 m/s^2
direction = downwords
(c) when ball is coming down,
acceleration = g = 9.81 m/s^2
direction = downwords
