Question

A person drops a 5 kg rock off the edge of a very tall vertical cliff here on earth. Assume air resistance is NOT zero. Which of the following is true? g = 9.8 m/s^2 The net force on the rock, while it is falling, is getting larger and larger because the air resistance force is increasing. The acceleration will start off at g down, but then diminish until it is zero, at which point the rock is falling at its terminal velocity. The weight force on the rock will get smaller and smaller while the rock falls because air resistance is growing. The rock will start off moving really quickly and then the speed will slow down as the air resistance force increases.

Explanation / Answer

Acc to me answer is the acceleration wil start off at g down but diminish until it is zero at which point the rock is falling

at its terminal velocity at this point drag force+bouyant force =gravitational force

So there wil be no net force acti g on object and it wil fall with uniform velocity
