1. DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. It is double stranded and contains base pairs. These base pairs (adenine, cytosine, thymine, and guanine) "code" for the human genome. The beauty of DNA is that because it is double stranded, there are 2 strands that are antiparallel to each other, and A pairs with T while G pairs with C. DNA is the substance of genes. Genes are the units of inheritance that transmit information from parents to offspring.
