Question

Through experiments like those you did in the magnetism lab, experimenters determined that the force on an electric current in a magnetic field is given by
F = I x B
The cross product means that the force is perpendicular to both the magnetic field and the current direction and is given by the right hand rule. If the fingers of your right hand curl from I to B, your thumb points in the direction of F. Notice that the longer the part of the current carrying wire in the magnetic field is, the stronger the force is.

Since a current is just moving electric charge, there is a force on a moving electric charge in a magnetic field. This is given by the Lorentz Force:
F = qv x B
Verify the units are the same for the right hand sides of these two equations.

Explanation / Answer

For the first F = I x L x B SI unit is Ampere-meter-tesla i.e A-T-m ---- (1)

For second F = (Coulomb-tesla-meter)/second = (C-T-m)/s -----(2)

Now C/s =Ampere (A) Putting C/s in equation (2), we get,

so F = A-T-m

So the units of right hands of both the equations are same
