What is the average CFU/ml in saliva in our class? Look through the enumeration module introduction. The protocol for the lab is included. This set of data refers to the saliva enumeration. Each number (1-31) is a different student who posted their own data for the saliva counts on the petrifilm. The dilution factor comes from the 1:10 serial dilution that was performed to plate the different concentrations. In order to get one number for each student, only one petrifilm, that has colonies between 30 and 300 is counted, the other ones are either TNTC = too numerous to count, or TFTC = too few to count. Now multiply the count of colonies by the dilution factor and write the result in scientific notation. Here is an example: students #1: 227 x 10000000 = 2270000000 = 2.27 x 10e9 Calculate a number for each student and then calculate the mean of all students in the class.
