A motor is an electro magnetic device that converts electrical energy into rotating mechanical force. So you supply electricity to it and it will give you mechanical force as the output.

A generator is just the opposite It converts mechanical energy to electrical energy.

You provide the mechanical force (like a turbine or any other prime mover) it will give you electrical energy.
