Question
Use the figure to the right to answer the following questions. In the picture to the right is a plot of Voltage vs. Current for three resistors: 10 [A], 33 [A], and 100 [A] resistors. (Please assume the 33 Ohm resistor goes through the origin.) 1. What is the Resistance measured by the data shown on the graph for the 33[Ohm] resistor 2.Using the same picture, what is the Resistance measured by the data shown on the graph for the 100[Ohm] resistor 3. I have a resistor of 80 [Ohm] and apply a voltage across it of 8 [Volt]. What is the current through the resistor in milliAmp? ( 0.0260.900 ) 0.8 0.6 0.4 0.2 0.05 0.05 Output Current( A) 0.10 -0.500 b (Y Intercept) 3.02E 0.648 0Explanation / Answer
The slope of V- I graph gives the resistance of the wire. The more is the slope more is the resistance, we see that largest slope is the blue graph which means blue line corresponds to 100 ohms.Similarly pink for 33 ohm and red for 10 ohms.
1) for 33 ohm i.e pink line slope is = 0.900/0.026 = 34.61 ohm
2) for 100 ohms i.e the blue line slope = 102 as from the label in the graph so resistance from the graph is 102 ohm
3) I = V/R
I = 8/80 = 0.1 A
I = 100 mA
