1.The purpose of Marine Sanctuaries is to provide a secure habitat for marine life and for endangered species.

Marine Sanctuaries attract tourism and contribute to economic growth of the region.

2. In the US a Marine Sanctuary permits all activities except extracting oil.

In the New Zealand Marine Reserves all forms of activities are prohibited(No take zones)

3.Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary protects Whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, blue and humpback whales, Pacific white-sided dolphin and albatross .Because some species migrate to these sancturies for protection and some actually exist there only.The aim is to protect both kind of species.

4.Tourism, Commercial and recreational fishing, wildlife watching , research studies on the species.The Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary is suitable to all these activities and it has a healthy coastal environment.
