Hydrostatic pressure at anypoint is hdg, h is the height of the water column,

                                                                 d= 1000kg/cu.m density of water and g = 9.8m/s2, garvitational acceleration

depth at the deep end    h = 3.0 m

pressure = 3.0*1000*9.8 = 29400 N/sq.m

depth at shallow end     h = 1.0 m

pressure = 1*9.8*1000 = 9800 N/sq.m

Force = pressure * Area

the dpeth is varying uniformly and hence the pressure also varies uniform.

we can take the average pressue as the effective pressure to calculate the force on the bottom

Foce on the bottom = 25*8*(9800+29400)/2

                                 = 3920000 N
