Question: In procedure 1 capacitors in series: Determine the... Bookmark In procedure 1 capacitors in series: Determine the equivalent capacitance assuming: C1 = 102 F C2 = 284 F C3 = 313 F Enter your response to three significant figures in units of F.

In procedure 2 capacitors in parallel : Determine the equivalent capacitance assuming: C1 = 120 F C2 = 284 F C3 = 367 F Enter your response to three significant figures in units of F.

In procedure 3 series parallel circuit : Determine the equivalent capacitance assuming: C1 = 145 F C2 = 216 F C3 = 421 F Enter your response to three significant figures in units of F.

Explanation / Answer

First question -

The three capacitors are in series.

So, the equivalent capacitance, Ceq = (C1*C2*C3) / [(C1*C2) + (C2*C3) + (C3*C1)]

put the values -

Ceq = (102*284*313) / [(102*284) + (284*313) + (313*102)] = 9066984 / 149786 = 60.5 micro F

Second question -

In this case,

Ceq = C1 + C2 + C3 = 120+284+367 = 771 micro F

Third question -

Suppose C1 is in series with the parallel combination of C2 and C3.

So, 145 micro F is in series with (216+421) = 637 micro F.

So, Ceq = (145*637) / (145+637) = 118 micro F
