Given a 52.0 V battery and 14.0 and 68.0 resistors, find the current (in A) and power (in W) for each when connected in series.

I14.0 = 0.643A

P14.0 = 0.03 W  

I68.0 = 0.643A

P68.0 = 0.006 W

(b)Repeat when the resistances are in parallel.

(b)

Req = R1*R2 / R1+R2

Req = 14*68 / 14+68

Req = 11.60

Itotal = V/Req = 52 / 11.60 = 4.48

I1 = (R1 / R1+R2 )*Itotal = (14 / 14+68) *4.48 = 0.765 A

P1 = I1^2*R1 = (0.765)^2*14 = 8.19 W

I2 = (R2/R1+R2)*Itotal = (68/14+68)*4.48 = 3.71 A

P2 = I2^2*R2 = (3.71)^2*68 = 935.95W
