As the two baots have same weigt, in the equilbirum they dispalce the same amount of water.

in th equilibrium,

Fnety = 0

buoyant force - Weight of the bot = 0

buoyant force = weight of the boat

weight of the water dispalced = wight of the boat

so, as both boats have same weigt, they displace same weight of water.

b) less than

from the above discussion,

weight of water disppaced by boat A = weight of water dispalced by boat B

rho_freshwater*V_freshwater*g = rho_seawater*V_seawater*g

V_seawater = V_freshwater*(rho_freshwater/rho_seawater)

here rho_frshwater < rho_seawater

so,

V_seawtaer < V_freshwater
