Question

Explain how the Hershey and Chase experiment identified DNA as the hereditary molecule. Drag the terms on the left to the appropriate blanks on the right to complete the sentences. Terms can be used once, more than once, or not at all. Reset Help bacteria and Hershey and Chase prepared T2 particles whose protein was labeled with the whose DNA was labeled with then separated the infected blender. They found that essentially all the P32 They used the labeled T2 to infect and 35 from the empty phage shells (phage ghosts) using a -labelled T2 DNA but little to none of the genetic material labelled T2 protein was in the infected cells. Since T2 genetic material amoeba must be inside the infected cells in order to direct new virus particle synthesis, these results pointed to DNA as the single-celled fungi of phage T2. protein

harshley and chase wanted to know how viruses infect bacteria, with protein or DNA . They add radioactive p32 to DNA in one set of phage and radioactive S32 to coat protein of a second set of a phage virus. Next those labeled phages are allowed to infect bacterias. In following stage cnetrifugation takes place to separate bacteria and corresponding phage viruses. After this step radioactivity was measured both inside the bacterial cells and also in cell supernatant.
