Question
1. What is given a = 0.355 [ms-2] and diameter of disk with uniform mass distribution = 18.5 [cm]. = (Use three sig. figs. or N/A if not enough information is given)
2. Using information found in previous question, if the dropping mass is 140[g], then what is ?
= ___ [Nm]
(Use three sig. figs. or N/A if not enough information is given.)
3. I have a plot whose vertical intercept is 0.00422 [Nm]. If the bearings are 2 [mm] from the center of the wheel,then what is the force of friction?
Use three significant figures for your answer in Newton.
____ [N]
Explanation / Answer
1)we know that a = alpha*r
where r is radius ,
so alpha = a/ r = 0.355 /0.0925 = 3.837 rad /s 2
2) torque is given by I * alpha
where I = moment of inertia = 0.5 * m * R2 = 0.5* 0.14* 0.0925 2
= 5.989 x10-4
torque = I* alpha= 5.989 x10-4 * 3.837 = 2.298 x10-3 N-m
3) we want newtons therefore .00422Nm / .002m leaves you with2.11 newtons
