The lesion was the size of an egg and quite so Caitlyn also presented with a temperature of 38.4°C (101.2°F). Motrin and compresses were advised as comfort measures. What media will likely be inoculated when this sample arrives in the laboratory? State your reason(s) for choosing the media you've indicated

Explanation / Answer

4. Keflex or Cephalexin belongs to Beta-lactam class of antibiotics. These broad spectrum antibiotics consists of a beta-lactam rings. These antibiotics kill microorganisms by inhibiting cell wall bioynthesis in bacteria. They are usually effective against Gram positive bacteria which consists of a thick peptidoglycan layer which is important for maintaining cell wall integrity. Disruption of cell wall synthesis leads to death of gram positive bacteria.
