Answer questions?
What happens with larger or smaller voltage? (Don't know how to answer this, the link is a referance to the lab we did does the wire move less when voltage increased, becuase with ours, wire barely moved when voltage was increased.) Why can this be used as a proxy for current? Is there a reason the deflection stops when a particular current is reached?
What happens when the distance between the palte changes? (Move top plate only).
What happens when you reverse the direction of the current?
Explanation / Answer
The voltage is a measure of the potential energy between two points. The magnetic field makes a force that could be larger if the potential difference is big the force made for the magnetic field will be biggest. So if you up the voltage the wire just move up with more intensity than if you decrease the voltage.
The deflection will stop when the force will be zero. This can only occur if the system is tottaly saturated. Or if the voltage is zero. For a value of current that saturate the wire totally it will stop the deflection because the charges can´t travel inside the wire.
If the top plate is moved the magnetic field will be less intense so the deflection rate will be lower.
If you reverse the direction of the current thi force direction will change to the outer side and obvioley the charges will move in opposite direction
