PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The figure shows a 50-kg frictionless cylindrical piston that floats on 0.31 mol of compressed air at 30°C. How far does the piston move if the temperature is increased to 300°C?

A 5.0-liter gas tank holds 2.8 moles of monatomic helium (He) and 1.10 mole of diatomic oxygen (O2), at a temperature of 350 K. The ATOMIC masses of helium and oxygen are 4.0 g/mol and 16.0 g/mol, respectively. What is the ratio of the root-mean-square (thermal) speed of helium to that of oxygen?

Explanation / Answer

External pressure is constant
use:
V2/V1 = T2/T1
= (300+273) / (30+273)
= 1.891

V = A*h
so,
h2/h1 = 1.891
Option doesn't seem correct.
I will solve 2nd one for you though
-------------------------------------------------

Rms speed= sqrt (3*R*T/M)
since temperature is same,
rms(He) / rms (O2) = sqrt (M(O2) / M(He)
= sqrt (32/4)
= 2.8
Answer: 2.8

I have kept M(O2) as 32 because mass of diatomic Oxygen will be 32 g/mol as mass of monoatomic oxygen is 16 g/mol
