Question 4.) One morning you get into your car; you put your key in the ignition and turn it. Your car fails to turn on. Being the scientist that you are, list two hypotheses as to why. Pick one of your hypotheses (circle) and create a test for the hypothesis. Provide a properly worded prediction for this selected hypothesis describing what you expect to see if your hypoth refuted. (25 pts- 5 pts each) 4ia Hypothesis 1: Hypothesis 2: Test for hypothesis: Supporting Prediction Refuting Prediction:Explanation / Answer
There can be two hypothesis-
Hypothesis 1- Battery is discharged.
Hypothesis 2- There is a block in the engine which is not allowing it to ignite.
Test for hypothesis 1- We can use the same battery on another car and see if it is working properly or not.
Supporting prediction- The another car in which battery was inserted didn't start too.
Refuting prediction- When the battery is placed in another car then it starts.
If refuting prediction is correct then it means the other hypothesis i.e. hypothesis 2 is correct.
