While conducting your survey, you meet a very large student tour group. The tour group has a high number of people who are carriers of the sickle-cell trait 1. Based on this information, what can you suggest about the group's geographic or cultural background? (Consider their economic practices, location in the world, and history)

Sickle cell anemia is a wide spread disease, commonly seen in African population.This sickle cell disorder happens due to substitution of Glutamine to Valine at the 6th position of hemoglobin beta chain.

The sickel shape causes deficiency in oxygen carrying capacity,& as a result body's cells become deprived of oxygen, & the patients feel fatigue and uneasyness all the time.

So, as stated above this is due to an alteration of Protein kind of disorder, & Proteins get degraded or altered due to high temperature.

1.)ans=>By this conclusion we can say that the tour group of students must be living in high temperature, that's why their Hemoglobin beta chain protein's are going to be altered & they are the carrier of HbS disorder.

But this disorder give them one advantage that, they become resistant to Malaria, as malarial parasite ( plasmodium) can't survive in sickel shape of RBC , so the carriers for this disorder can be rescued from Malaria.

Their cultural background must be of African origin, economical poor population of the world.
