Torque is the sum of the force components tangent to the merry go round times the distance from the center of
rotation.
r = 1.45m
Tom ---> 52.5cos 30(1.45) = 65.92 kg m/s
Jerry---> -34(cos10)(1.45) = -48.55 kg m/s
Total Torque = 66.25 - 53.9 = 17.36 kg m/s
b)
If Jerry reverses his force his torque becomes positive
Jerry ---> 34(cos10)(1.45) = 48.55 kg m/s
Total Torque = 66.25 + 53.9 = 114.47 kg m/s
