Explanation / Answer

Research question: Do termites follow blue ink more than the red ink?

Hypothesis: Termites are attracted to the blue colored ink more than the red colored ink.

Experiment: Two sets of paper were taken, one having a blue colored lime drawn by a papermate ballpoint pen and the second having a red colored line. The behavior of termites as to which colored ink they follow are observed. The independent variables are the paper, color of the ink and lighting. The dependent variable is the movement of termite. Temperature is controlled in that particular study setting.

Predicted result: Termites will be attracted to blue colored ink more than the red colored ink.

The data can be analysed using unpaired t test and the p value can be found to be below 0.05. So, the null hypothesises rejected and the hypothesis in question is supported.

The experiment can be conducted in a larger study setting using different species of termites at different study centers.
