Question

4 o ..us points serpops 12.P 013 Mi. A o 460-kg object attached to a spring with a force constant of oo Nym vibrates in simple harmonic moton wrhan ampleuse of 10.8 am. (Assume the postion of the object is at the origin at t 0.) (a) Calculate the maximum value of its speed. (b) Calculate the maximum value of its acceleration. cm/s (c) Calculate the value of its speed when the object is B RO cm from the equalbrium position, (d) Calculate the value of its acceleration when the object is 8.80 cm from the equabrium position. (e) Calculate the time interval reduired for the object to move from x oto 2 so cm. Need Help? LRe

Explanation / Answer

(a) first of all we will calculate , angular frequency w = (K/M)1/2 = (8/0.46)1/2 = 4.17 rad/s
  maximum value of speed = wA = 4.17*10.8*10-2 = 0.45 m/s
(b) maximum value of acceleration = w2A= 4.172*10.8*10-2 = 1.878 m/s2
(c) v = w(A2 -x2)1/2 at x = 8.8 cm
  v= 0.261m/s
(d) acceleration = w2X at x = 8.8 cm
   acceleration = 4.172*8.8*10-2 = 1.53 m/s2
