Ans.) As mentioned the patient’s blood pressure is with and +3 pitting edema to the lower extremities.(175/80 mm Hg blood pressure means that problem is in atrial contraction (systol). On the basis of these symptoms nures identify the patients condition before admistering medication.

As, furosemide 40 mg is given to reduce the blood pressue or hypertension (high blood pressure) and is also used to treat edema i.e., swelling due to fluid buildup in the body.
