Question
can someone please help...
The projection lens in a certain slide projector is a single thin lens. A slide 23.9 mm high is to be projected so that its image fills a screen 1.74 m high. The slide-to- screen distance is 2.93 m. (a) Determine the focal length of the projection lens. 34 What is the relationship between the slide-to-screen distance and the object and image distances? mm (b) How far from the slide should the lens of the projector be placed to form the image on the screen? 38 Make certain to keep a fairly large number of significant figures in your calculations to avoid round-off errors mm Need Help? Chat About ItExplanation / Answer
Here ,
height of object , ho = 23.9 mm
height of image , hi = 1.74 m
image distance , di = 2.93 m
Now ,
as m = -di/do = -hi/do
-2.93/do = -1.74/.0239
do = 0.0402 m
using lens formula ,
1/f = 1/di + 1/do
1/f = 1/0.0402 + 1/2.93
f = 0.0397 m
f = 39.7 mm
the focal length of lens is 39.7 mm
b)
Now, the distance of slide = 0.0402 m
distance of slide = 40.2 mm
the slide should be kept 40.2 mm from the lens
