Explanation / Answer

When the police car catches up to the speeding car, they both will have traveled the same distance.

Distance traveled by the speeding car = (25 m/s) T, where
T = time it takes for police car to catch the speeding car

Distance traveled by the police car = (0.5)(5 m/s^2) T2

Setting these two equations equal:
25T = 2.5T2
2.5T = 25
T = 10 s

Speed of police car = (5 m/s^2)*10
= 50 m/s
