Question

The figure shows a uniform magnetic field directed out of the page; the field is normal to the plane of a conducting loop having resistance R. The loops is entirly with in the uniform field. Assume that all parts of the loop remain at rest. What change in the strength of the uniform magnetic field would result in an induced current flowing through the resistor from the bottom of the page towards the top of the page? Decrease the magnetic field strength. Increase the magnetic field strength. No change in the field strength will result in an immediate induced current flowing through R towards the top of the page.

Explanation / Answer

The current in the loop is counterclockwise

so the induced mangnetic field is out of the page

->>>>> So the external magnetic field is decreasing.
