Question
A steel ball of mass 0.970 kg is fastened to a cord that is 83.0 cm long and fixed at the far end. The ball is then released when the cord is horizontal, as shown in the figure. At the bottom of its path, the ball strikes a 4.60 kg steel block initially at rest on a frictionless surface. The collision is elastic. Find (a) the speed of the ball and (b) the speed of the block, both just after the collision.

Please upload the figure and send it through the server, currently the I cannot see the picture of the figure therefore this question cannot be soved properly any how I am going to give you some hints regarding this question
Vf ball = (m1-m2) Vi1 / m1+m2
Vfblock = 2m1vi1/ (m1+m2)
Here Vi1 is the problem which can be measured by using figure
gh = 0.5V1i2
But right now I dont have any idea about height....evaluate by ur self using figure.....
