HI
PLEASE HELP ME ON PHYSICS URGEENTLY PLEASE
2) Two point charge of +2.0 MuC and -6.0 MuC are located on the x-axis at x = -1.0 cm and x = +2.0 cm respectively. Where should a third charge of +3.0 MuC be placed on the +x-axis so that the potential at the origin is equal to zero? 3) A sphere with radius 2.0 mm carries +1.0 MuC of charge distributed uniformly throughout Its volume. What is the potential difference, VB ? VA, between point B, which is 4.0 m from the center of the sphere, and point A, which is 9.0 m from the center of the sphere?Explanation / Answer
Part 1)
The formula for potential is V = kq/r, and we need the three values to cancel at the origin...
The two positives will equal the negative...
(9 X 109)(2 X 10-6)/(.01) + (9 X 109)(3 X 10-6)/r = (9 X 109)(6 X 10-6)/(.02)
r = .03
That is 3 cm (Choice A)
Part 2)
V = kq/r - kq/r
V = (9 X 109)(1 X 10-6)/4 - (9 X 109)(1 X 10-6)/9
V = 1250 V
With 2 sig figs, that is 1200 V (Choice B)
