Question
A rectangular conductor is fixed in a region of uniform magnetic field. It is connected with wires to a battery, see the figure. If the mobile charges in the semiconductor are all, the situation that arises is closest to.....
a)the bottom of the rectangle will be negatively charged with respect to the bottom
b)the top of the rectangle will be negatively charged with respect to the bottom.
c)the rectangle will remain neutral everywhere
d)the top of the rectangle will be positively charged with respect to the bottom
e)the left end of the triangle will be negatively charged with respect to the right

Electrons will flow from Right side to left side of figure, so in the given magnetic field using right hand rule (F = q(v x B)), electrons will experience a force toward bottom of the rectangle. Hence there will be negatice charge accumulation at the bottom of the rectangle and similarly the positive charge carriers will flow from left to right and hence will experience a upward force so there will be positive charge accumulation on top of rectangle.
so,
d)the top of the rectangle will be positively charged with respect to the bottom
d)the top of the rectangle will be positively charged with respect to the top not bottom
