Question
1) A multimeter in parallel with a resistor reads 282 mV. At the same time, another multimeter in series with the resistor reads 67.3 ?A. Calculate the resistance of the resistor.
2) When the leads of an ohmmeter are touched together, the ohmmeter reads 0.3 ?. Then when the leads are placed across a heater coil, the ohmmeter reads 82.5 ?. Find the resistance of the heater coil.
3) The battery has an emf of 12.6 V and an internal resistance of 0.3 ?. Find the terminal voltage of the battery and the power delivered to the 2.0 ? resistor.
Explanation / Answer
a)
R = V/I = (282*10^-3)/(67.3*10^-6) = 4190 ohm
b) Req = 82.8 ohm
c)
Req = 2*3/(2+3) + 0.3 = 1.5
I = 12.6/1.5 = 8.4 amp
Vaccross terminal = 12.6 - 0.3*8.4 = 10.08 V
Power delieverd to 2ohm = i^2R = ((3/5)*8.4)^2*2 = 50.8 watt
