The following carts have a mass of 2.0 kg each and moves a distance of 1.5 m to the right. Show how to calculate the work done by the 10 N force in each case. a. square (It's supposed to look like the reverse of problem b) angle 30 degree 10N (I can't draw it right, but the angle is in line with the top of the cart, and the arrow is slanted upward) c. 10 N 30 degree > square square -----> 10N b.

Explanation / Answer

Work done = F * distance

a) distance = 1.5 m

W = 10 * 1.5 = 15 J

b)

W = 10 * cos 30 * 1.5 = 7.5 * sqrt(3)

c)

W = -10 * cos 30 * 1.5 = - 7.5 * sqrt(3) Note: Work done is negative
