Explanation / Answer
Please find the answers below. Though I have mentioned examples according to my knowledge and experience, you may tweak some statements per your requirements and own experiences.
Answer 1. I have not felt as yet that I’m getting old. However, according to the stages of human development, people start feeling aged when they are around or above 65 years.
Answer 2. Usually, in old age, the most important role is played by one’s spouse or children, as the person becomes dependent on them due to physical suffering, health conditions, financial issues, emotional despair, etc.
Answer 3. Here are my ratings in order of importance (from high to low):
Answer 4. Ageism refers to the discrimination that occurs as a result of people’s prejudiced negative thoughts about individuals of certain age. While the term is mostly used in the context of older individuals, this can happen at any age. I have even felt ageism at a young age when my parents thought that I should behave maturely with my younger siblings. While I was elder to my siblings, there is no valid reason behind behaving maturely as a youngster and not involve in any pranks or fun. Thus, ageism can be experienced by any individual at any age.
Answer 5. For older people, the government or community should be very sensitive, as they face several negative situations. While they get physically weak and financially dependent, they may also face conditions like the death of their spouse and the like. Thus, to help them cope well at this phase of life, they should be given secure old homes, provided there is nobody to care for them. They should be provided senior citizen benefits, such as free treatment in government medical facilities. There should be discounted caretaker or concierge services available on call. Those who are alone in life should be funded by some community schemes so they can survive financially. Communities may also form social recreational groups for older people so they can offer social support to each other.
