Question

A conducting, rectangular, circuit containing a resistor R is pulled to the right by an external force at constant velocity, v. At the instant drawn in the sketch, the loop is partially inside and partially outside a region of space with a uniform magnetic field, directed into the paper. The external force is 2IN, and a 4.0A current flows through the 6.0-Ohm resistor. Determine the magnitude of v. A coil made out of copper wire has 25 turns and a radius of 0.075 m. The coil is immersed in a uniform magnetic field that makes an angle of 75degree with respect to the normal to the coil. The magnitude of the magnetic field changes with time, according to the graph, shown below. What is the average emf induced in the coil in the time interval from t = 5.00 s to 7.50 s

Explanation / Answer

1) emf = iR = 24 V

24 = vBL

but F = iBL = 21

=> BL = 21/i = 21/4 = 5.25

hence v = 24 / (BL) = 24/ 5.25 = 4.57 m/s
