PLEASE HELP!!!!

014 (part 1 of 2) An arrow is shot at an angle 39 with the horizontal. It has a velocity of 45 m/s. How high will the arrow go? The accelera-tion of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 Answer in units of m 015 (part 2 of 2) What horizontal distance will it travel? Answer in units of m 016 An autographed baseball rolls off of a 1.3 m high desk and strikes the floor 0.17 m away from the desk. How fast was it rolling on the desk before it fell off? The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s2 Answer in units of m/s

Explanation / Answer

Part 1)

Apply vf2 = vo2 + 2ad in the vertical

Initial vertical velocity = 45(sin 39) = 28.3 m/s

So... 0 = 28.32 + 2(-9.8)(d)

d = 40.9 m

Part 2)

Apply R = vo2sin2(angle)/g

2theta = 78 degrees

R = (45)2(sin 78)/(9.8)

R = 202 m

Part 3)

Start with the vertical to find out how long it takes to fall

d = vot + .5at2

1.3 = 0 + (.5)(9.81)(t)2

t = .515 sec

Then in the horizontal, d = vt

.17 = v(.515)

v = .330 m/s
