Question
A force is applied to a 2.0 kg radio-controlled model car parallel to the x axis as it moves along a straight track. The x-component of the force varies with the x-component of the car.
The work done by the force when the car moves from x=0.0m to x=7.0m is?
What is the speed of the car at x=4.0m?
A force is applied to a 2.0 kg radio-controlled model car parallel to the x axis as it moves along a straight track. The x-component of the force varies with the x-component of the car. The work done by the force when the car moves from x=0.0m to x=7.0m is? What is the speed of the car at x=4.0m?Explanation / Answer
work done is the area under the givne curve , area under the gven curve = (0.5 * 2*2 + 1*2 ) - (0.5* 2*1) = 3J
we know that work done = difference in kinetic energy , now lets take the work done till x= 4m which is equal to 4J
now at x=0 , kinetic energy =0 , so at x=0 and x=4 , find kinetic energies which is (0.5* mass * sq.of velocity ) ,
this difference = 4J , mass is given as 2 kg
so 0.5 * 2 * sq.of velocity = 4 , so sq.of velocity = 4 , s velocity = 2m/s ,
so velocity of body at x=4m is 2m/s
