Problem of Physic: Sound and Light
Any help would be greatly appreciated, but please i wanna see the full procedure in order to improve with this subject.
1. A car traveling at 20.0 m/s horn sounds with frequency of 600 Hz. Calculate the frequency that an observer would hear that is a) approaching b) away from the car if the speed of sound is 340 m/s.
2. An electron moves through an X-ray tube with a difference of electric potential of 1.00 x 104 V. Calculate the tube radiation frequency if the electron loses all its energy in a collision which emits a photon.
3. Calculate the energy of a photon of 1 m long.
4. A laser emits red light. Calculate frequency, wavelength and energy of a photon.
Explanation / Answer
1 a)f=f0*c/(c-v)=600*340/320=637.5Hz
b)Similarly,
f=600*340/360=566.7Hz
2)10^4*1.6*10^-19=h*f
f=2.41*10^18Hz
3)E=hc/lamda=6.63*10^-34*3*10^8=1.99*10^-25J
4)Wavelength of red light is 650nm
f=c/lamda=3*10^8/(650*10^-9)=4.62*10^14Hz
E=h*f=6.63*10^-34*4.62*10^14=3.06*10^-19J
