Question
Help!!! Please explain your answer....
Calculate the power delivered to each resistor in the circuit shown in figure P28.15 where R1= 3.00 omega, R2=1.00 omega, and V=9.0 V. Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 10%. Double check your calculations. W 4.00 omega resistor Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 10%. Double check your calculations. W resistor R2 Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 100%. W 1.00 omega resistor Your response differs from the correct answer by more than 100%. WExplanation / Answer
equivalent resistance
R2 and 1ohms are in parallel
1*1/(1+1)=0.5 ohms
R1 ,4 and 0.5 are in series
Req=3+4+0.5=7.5 ohms
Total current flowing in the circuit is
I=V/Req=9/7.5=1.2 A
So current flowing in each resistor
IR1=I=1.2 A
I4=I=1.2 A
IR2=I/2=0.6 A
I1=0.6 A
so power dissipated in each resistor is
P=I2R
a)
PR1=1.22*3=4.32 Watts
b)
P4=1.22*4=5.76 Watts
c)
PR2=0.62*1=0.36 Watts
d)
P1=0.62*1=0.36 W
