Ethics is critical for a number of reasons, including that with advances in medical care, new spins on ethical dilemmas arise as well the increasind demands on healthcare. There are numerous changes take place in the form of change in regulations, new innovations, evidence based practice which is all based on legal compliances. Any deviations fromm this can bring the concern as a lawsuit with various complications to the organisation and the employees involved in the care. Hence, learning medical ethics and law is very important for a medical student.

WHY: The learning can helps the student to understand the following factors in the field of medical ethics and law;

- it helps to understand the basic outline to work in healthcare settings

- it creates an understnding towards the contemporary issues in the broad healthcare settings

- it helps to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or instances of inappropriate or over-regulation in healthcare which ileads to legal implications

- it enables the student to build up understanding towards the key components in medical law and ethics, such as consent, confidentiality, human rights, etc

- it can also delivers knowledge to learn about the key values in medical law and ethics, such as autonomy, solidarity, justice, reciprocity

- it helps to develop critical thinking informed by legal, ethical, and social science analysis, and apply that knowlege and critical thinking to understand the nature of the contemporary issues and can come up with possible solutions to the issues

- it also helps to open up knowledge with national and international dimensions of ethical principles and law in medical field

- it also creates a clear view on the limitations in the medical field and act accordingly.

HOW: Medical Students have vast access to the field of ethics and law through medical curriclum. There is a core subject which teach the medical student about this field in depth in the medical academics.It also focuses on the theoritical as well as practical aspects of the subject. It delivers the basics and advances of the field to work effectively.

Secondly, the medical student can learn the practical aspects in real life situations in the clincal field from the patients. This can give a sound knowledge to the student as this elaborates with many practical difficulties while implementing the theoritical knowledge.

Thirdly, the student can gain knowledge through many research articles or case studies or medical journals, which can shed more knowledge about the field with different scenarios in medical practice.

What are the responsibilities of doctors who lead multi-disciplinary teams?

A multi-disciplinary teams are group of medical professionals in the team of patient care to work in co-ordination towards the delivery of patient care for some specific needs of the patients such as psychiatrist, dietitians, social worker, physiotherapist etc. The team members independently treat various health issues of a patient , focusing on the issues in which they specialise but to treat the client with a comprehensive model of care. The treatment is based on a care plan which is included with all types of care involved for the client . This co-ordinates their services and gets the team working together towards a specific set of goals.

- Doctors make some important contribution in the management of patient and guiding the team towards the care of the patients.

- Supervising the effectiveness of the care by analysing the clinical outcomes of a patient

- Planning the care by discussing with other clinical personnels like nurses, physiotherapists to work as a team to bring in positive outcomes on patient care

- Educating the fellow members on clincal updation and change in treatment modalities i patient care

- Contribute with discussions and use of helpful recommendations for improving patient care

- Engaging with colleagues to deliver care with safety and abiding to ethical principles and laws

- Promoting a working environment and a good culture among all team members which is free from unfair discrimination, bullying, harassment
