2. A stone is thrown straight up. What is its acceleration on the way up, on the way down and at the highest point?
3. Joe is driving his car at 30 m/s when he notices a dog is 150m ahead of him. He immediately applies his brakes in order to stop. Assume that, his acceleration is constant and that he stops right before he hits the dog. What is the acceleration and how long does it take him to stop?
4. A bicycle is going at 10m/s. After 20 seconds its velocity doubles. Calculate the average acceleraton in those 20 seconds.
Explanation / Answer
1. x^4 =9, So x=3^0.5
2. on way up= (-g), way down=(+g)
3. v^2= -2as,v=30,s=150, so a=-3ms^-2,t=v/a ,so t=10sec
4. (20-10)/20 = 0.5ms^-2
