Telehealth is the way of services that not only include the clinical area but also the patient education and monitoring. It is the use of technology to communicate for providing services but no need of face to face sense of the provider and the patient. There are two types of telehealth services. synchronous services allow the provider and patient to communicate by using audio-video equipment in the office settings. Asynchronous services are the forwarding of prerecorded video to the provider for the evaluation.

Telehealth does not require any special skills for coding, but coders have to understand the specifies report correctly.Each state has different rules and guidelines for telehealth. Example: Florida Medicaid reimburses only live video but not reimburses telephonic conversations, emails etc.
