Question
A 4.1 kg block is attached to a spring with a force constant of 450N/m , as shown in the figure.
Find the work done by the spring on the block as the block moves from A to B along paths 1 and 2.
Enter your answers numerically separated by commas. Express your answers using two significant figures.

Work done by the spring = Spring potential energy at B - Spring potential energy at A
at A , spring is unstretched , so X =0
at A , spring Potential energy =0
At B , spring is streteched by 2 cm , so X = 2 cm = 0.02 m
At B , spring Potential energy = (0.5) k x^2 = (0.5) (450) (0.02)2 = 0.09 J
so work done by the spring = spring potential energy at B - spring potential energy at B
work done by the spring = 0.09 J - 0 J = 0.09 J
for path 2 also , the work done will be same since the work done by spring only depends on initial and final position
