Question
A loose, floppy coil of wire is carrying current I. The loop of wire is placed on a horizontal table in a uniform magnetic field B perpendicular to the plane of the table. This causes the loop to expand into a circular shape while still lying on the table. What orientation of the current and magnetic field could cause this to happen? (There may be more than one correct answer.)
A) Current clockwise, B upward
B) Current clockwise, B downward
C) Current counterclockwise, B upward
D) Current counterclockwise, B downward
Explanation / Answer
The current in loop means it produce magnatic field and these magnitic field line passes through loop which caries current when u place this loop having its on magnatic lines moving up word direction in a magnitc field whic is moving up word from forizontal table then number of lines passing form the loop will have more megantude the line from out side in side loop line of megnatic field are same so that increase megnaitc strenght or force in side loop and line out side loop are opposite to each other (i am talking about line produce by current in a loop and megnatic field line which are passing from table also passes throught loop) so out side strength decreases due to opposite direction thay cancel effect
so megnatic field potential inside in high and out side loop is low so it will bush electrosn to move toward low potential and that why loop expand
if current inant-clock wise and given megnatic field is from bottom of table to up ward direction then loop will expand and if current or direction of applied megnatic field is changed then loop will contract
so A is correct
