Health at Every Size is really a good social movement and it has good reachability. This movement aim improves the standard of living for people who are overweight or obese by promoting healthy lifestyles and anti-discrimination efforts.

A. BMI- BMI is a number based on our weight and height. In general, the higher the number, the more body fat a person has. BMI is often used as a screening method to understand if your weight might be putting you at risk for health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

BMI is commonly used to define different weight groups in adults 20 years old or older. The same groups apply to both men and women.

Body mass index (BMI) = weight(kg) / height(m)2

Underweight: BMI is less than 18.5

Normal weight: BMI is 18.5 to 24.9

Overweight: BMI is 25 to 29.9

Obese: BMI is 30 or more.

B. Diseases associated with obesity- Obesity is a term that is used to indicate weigh at least 20% more than what is considered a normal weight for our height.

Obesity can cause many Diseases such as Heart disease and stroke, High blood pressure, Diabetes, various cancers, Gallbladder disease and gallstones, Osteoarthritis and Breathing problems.

Extra weight makes us more likely to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Both of those conditions make heart disease or stroke more likely.

Most people who have type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese. Losing weight and becoming more physically active can help control our blood sugar levels.

C. Socioeconomic status and type 2 diabetes- Socioeconomic statuses have various effects on type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is more common among materially and socially deprived individuals in developed countries. It has been noted that there is likely to be more risk of diabetes in individuals who are obese, physically inactive and have an unhealthy diet because these conditions are more among people with lower socioeconomic status.
