The nurse practitioner instructs the patient to star taking his fexofenadine and recommends the use of oxymetazoline for his nasal congestion.
What might be a reason why the nurse practitioner did not prescribe a nasal steroid?

Fexofenadine is a classified anithistamine because the chances of crossing the blood - brain - barrier which causes sedation is less. Clearly the student is suffering from allergic rhinitis he she needs an antihistamine. As steroids should be used with certain precautions due to the side effects related to it.Steroids are also sometimes life threatening and as heshe is a student and young the chances of steroid addiction is high.
