Ms. Cree is a new graduate and has just been hired as a medical assistant in Dr. Albright’s office. She is anxious about learning the new routines and doing a good job. She has always struggled with math calculations, but was able to develop her skills to pass her courses in school. However, when Dr. Albright orders a medication that needs to be calculated, Ms. Cree panics. She is unable to find her calculator, and even though she has been able to manually solve this type of problem in the classroom setting, she now becomes too afraid to trust her own skills. Where is that calculator? Ms. Cree is afraid of losing her job if she admits the problem, and yet she knows that if she makes a mistake, she could jeopardize the health of the patient.

What job-related factors are contributing to Ms. Cree’s anxiety and panic?

What suggestions would you recommend to her?

What thoughts are going through her mind that may be adding to the problem?

As Ms. Cree has just been appointed, she must be under the pressure of the performance in the job and be best at what she does because there is a high competition in the medical field.so, if she commits any mistakes, she is afraid of getting fired. The panic and anxiety is the reason of only the new job and losing the job.

I would recommend Ms. Cree just to be confident because she had done the calculations related problem and solved it too. She just need to gather the confidence of hers to again be on the track. As she has been appointed for the job she must know that she is the best candidate for the position and should not panic about the performance.

Not performing up to the mark, not able to solve even the simple problems and pressure of the patient's health are three factor that are going through her mind every time leading to the addition of the problem.
