Confidentiality is key when discussing medical issues with your doctor. In the U.S., federal laws protect the privacy of health and mental health records of individuals. German law also provides privacy protection.

CASE STUDY DISCUSSION ASSIGNMENT:

Based on what you read in the Germanwings case study, and using the facts presented in the “Final Report”, write a strong argument for or against maintaining medical confidentiality in the airline industry.

Based on what I read in the case study and using the facts I am strongly writing against the topic of maintaining confidentiality in airline industry

There are two types of scenario in which the health service may use the health information without your consent. There are as follows:

1) when your health or someone's health is threathened and the information will help the doctors and nurses to know, for example, allergy to any drug and the patient is unconscious and unable to tell this information

2)when the information will prevent serious threat to public safety. For example , a pilot having a past history of mental illness or if a person has a contagious disease and the public needs to be warned about the same.
