PICO(T) is an important tool used in a professional practice to clarify the clinical question and to find the answer.

P -Patient/ Problem. what is the condition you need to research? what are the characteristics of the population? the need of consideration of age, gender, race etc.

I - Intervention. what are the plan of treatment and the duration?

C -Comparision. what is the alternative action of treatment?

O- Outcome. What are the potential outcomes? or there are any potential effects of the outcome. The outcomes should be measurable in order to assess the improvement of intervention.

Example of a PICO Question:

Does Hand washing among Nursing Professionals will reduce the hospital-acquired infections?
