Explanation / Answer

1. Psychosocial factors affecting healthcare professionals and effect of those have on patient education:

Many factors that affect patient education stem from improper or inadequate education from health care professionals themselves . For egs: a)manpower shortage -hence devoting relatively less time to patient education, organization culture with poor emphasizes on after care education, b)inequal treatment of medical care giving staff promoting a feeling of self importance among physicians, who discriminate the lower cader or nurses and may intimidate them to follow their instructions, c) improper communication - the biggest culprit here, between physicians and nurses, nurses and patients, physicians and patients d) ignoring the rights of a patient - due to amore mechanical approach of caregivers, e) lack of appreciation / rewarding good patient educators, f) poor supervision by top management and policy makers.

2. Personality styles:

Patient attitude plays a very important role in accepting education from caregivers. Few personality types can be very frustrating to deal with due to high levels of stress and reactions. Caregivers should be aware of such behavioural types and approach should be tailored likewise. Eg: a patient who continuosly demanded attention by asking irrelevant questions and repeating questions but did not follow advise given. These patients can sometimes be hard to educate. A firm but soft approach is recommended.

3.Adjustment to illenss :

Grasping the implications of long and short term illness can be very traumatizing for patients. Maintainig positivity, age-appropriate approach and developing self-esteem/self-worth at the same time as strictly following complex medical regimens should be the approach. Coping with this condition means implementing ideas that involve realizing what patients think about the event and then considering what can be done. patients usually react by this approach - assessing whether this condition is harmful or not, followed by a second appraisal which considers whether the condition can be overcome to either minimised.

4. Role of Family:

Family becomes the most important as it provides a home to the patient to recover. Family works as a team and team work always produces good results. It helps in giving a positive outcome to the illness ans patient does not feel alone. Emotional and mental health improve drastically which in turn converts to physical improvement.
