1. Do you agree that improvements in patient satisfaction are not always tied to better healthcare outcomes?

2. Have you seen any examples of this (emphasis on patient satisfaction that is not tied to better healthcare outcomes) in your area of healthcare?

3. The article suggests that a better way to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care is to maintain appropriate staffing levels and improve working conditions. Do you agree with this? Can you think of any other ways to improve both patient satisfaction and quality of care?

Explanation / Answer

Patient satisfaction have a impact in health care because what we think as a patient is most important for our health.

1. Yes I am agree with this sentence. Here one thing is important that in what way we are defining the patient satisfaction, the definition may alter based on the education level and experience of patient. In hospital on daily basis we are getting lot of patient who are labour , worker, engineering etc but can we know that they have complete knowledge of medical and nursing field. Are they capable to decide what we have to do with them or not. Answer is NO , they are not capable to decide what is right and wrong for them. May patient argument with doctors and nurses to deviate there procedure which is not good for patient health. Some family member also make argument with staff , because of patient satisfaction but important is recovery of patient not what he feel , like or dislike.

2. Yes I have seen patient with such example. One patient admitted in hospital as a accidental case , and there is blood coagulation in his lungs due to which he feel difficult to breath. In this case we require nebulization so that he can expel coagulated blood, but he refuse that treatment because it is painful , but here if we are thinking about patient satisfaction then may be chances of his death. Hence patient satisfaction is not the means we have better outcomes.

3. Yes I am agree with this sentence to increase staff and working quality. Other ways to improve quality of healthcare and patient satisfaction is that we have procure expert and well trained physician , we increase the cleaning and sanitizing activities of hospital, focus on patient history and database.
